We eat too much salt.

Not true. There is no clinically established evidence on the amount of salt required by humans. Individual salt requirements are dictated by genetic make-up, age, overall activity and specific health issues such as salt sensitivity. The current recommended levels of salt consumption were arbitrarily chosen based upon concerns for salt sensitive individuals. There is no evidence that the recommended levels of salt consumption provide a health benefit to consumers.
